The Capital Area Humane Society has been awarded some money to help out animals in need.

A check was presented to the humane society from Dan Henry Distributing, a family owned beer and wine distributor in Lansing.

"At Dan Henry Distributing, we pride ourselves on being active in our community and being leaders in charitable giving," said Dan Henry, president of Dan Henry Distributing. "I applaud everyone who took part in this year's Restaurant Olympics, which raised $6,000 for the Capital Area Humane Society."

The money was raised during the annual Restaurant Olympics, where more teams from more than 20 restaurants competed in a variety of backyard and bar games such as quarters, cornhole and slip and slide.

"We'd like to thank Dan Henry Distributing for sponsoring such a fun and creative event and for all the teams for coming together for such a great cause," said Julia Wilson, president and CEO of the Capital Area Humane Society. "Dan Henry Distributing has been a generous community partner and we look forward to working with them for years to come."
