SHIAWASSEE COUNTY, MI (WILX) -- On Tuesday, April 30, the Michigan Credit Union, PFCU, donated just over $2,000 to the Shiawassee County Tornado Relief Fund.
This act comes two months after the tornadoes touched down in Shiawassee County destroying homes and businesses in the area.
The emergency manager for the county said they are incredibly thankful for this donation, but are still far from reaching their goal.
"But we are still far from the goal," Trent Atkins said in a press conference. "We still need over $100,000 to help folks restore, recover, get the repairs done and really get back to their homes"
Many homes affected still need repairs or have to be completely rebuilt.
Atkins says a lot of the homes affected were under-insured or not insured at all.
