Consumers Energy offers $1,000 for answers in the Eaton Rapids incident

LANSING, Mich (WILX) - Consumers Energy is offering a $1,000 reward to anyone who can help the company identify who damaged Consumers Energy's natural gas equipment at the Edgewater Apartments in Eaton Rapids.

It's believed that at about 11 p.m., on March 24th, an individual or a group of people intentionally cut the natural gas service to approximately 80 units at the complex.

"We believe there were eye witnesses to the vandalism at the apartments that night and we are hopeful that someone will step forward with useful information," said Jim Beechey, executive director, security for Consumers Energy.

"In addition to the inconvenience caused to residents by the loss of natural gas service, repairing the vandalism damage was costly," added Beechey.

Eaton Rapids' Police Department is investigating this vandalism, which occurred at 223 N. Main Street.
