Community comes together to bag 10,000 meals for hungry kids
Three local organizations came together Sunday to bag meals for a food packing for Kids Coalition Against Hunger.
University Lutheran Church, The Islamic Center of East Lansing and University United Methodist Church bagged 10 thousand meals in only an hour and a half.
"This is how faith communities can come together and serve humanity both beyond our communities and within our communities," Dhasin Sardar, Outreach Coordinator at the Islamic Center, said.
One-third of the bags will go to the MSU student food bank.
Another third of the bags will go to a warehouse in Detroit for use in response to domestic emergencies such as floods and tornadoes.
The remaining third of the bags will be distributed internationally to feed children battling food insecurity and hunger.
