College basketball coaches nationwide are lacing up with gold shoelaces this week in honor of a Mid-Michigan girl who died of cancer.

Lacey Holsworth of St. Johns was just 8 years old when she lost her battle in April, 2014.

Known as Princess Lacey, she was a big fan of the Michigan State Basketball team, and formed a special bond with former player Adreian Payne.

In honor of Coaches versus Cancer week, teams are opting for gold shoe laces in tribute to Lacey.

Coaches from Wisconsin, La Salle, and Appalachian State all posted photos on twitter last night of their sneakers with gold laces.
