Chicago airport speeds up TSA screening for holidays

By  |

A new effort to speed-up security lines has arrived at Chicago's Midway Airport.
Automated screening lanes are designed to improve the efficiency of the checkpoint.
Previously passengers would wait in line to take a tray for their items...
Now, according to airport officials, there are four separate divesting stations so trays automatically pop-up and four people can put their items in four trays all at once.
And the new trays are 25-percent larger than previous trays.
Another new feature is that the trays are tracked by an RFID tag...
So if a tray has is considered a possible threat, the system automatically pushes it off to another belt system so an officer can give it additional attention.
