Power restored after car takes out light pole, crashes into tree

LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - A car crashed into a tree after hitting a utility pole and cracking it in half.

This happened around 10 a.m. Monday morning at MLK and Mt. Hope in Lansing.

The driver of a Grand Prix had three passengers in the car, and according to police, all were injured.

The utility pole is cracked in half, the upper half laying in a tree.

All of the power lines attached to that pole were down.

Power has been restored to the 1,800 people who were without power after the crash in Lansing.

At this time, MLK northbound is closed at the 1800 block, and westbound Mt. Hope is closed.

BWL is on the scene assessing the damage and working to restore the power.

Lansing Police, Lansing Township Police, and Lansing Fire and Rescue were on the scene and the crash is under investigation.
