LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - Bus drivers tested their knowledge Saturday to prove who is the best behind the wheel in Michigan.
Around 40 bus drivers, representing 18 transit agencies, competed in the small bus rodeo competition and training event at a state police facility in Lansing.
They had to do a written test, navigate an obstacle course, complete a vehicle safety inspection and more.
"So many people don't realize how much they do and how much provide to our citizens, so we think it's important to honor them and let them know that we appreciate what they do," said Jean Ruestman, administrator for the Office of Passenger Transportation.
Members of law enforcement, transit agency managers, Michigan Department of Transportation staff and other volunteers were judges.
The top six winners compete in the national challenge held at the Community Transportation Assocation of America's annual expo.
