A young boy who was hit by a car over the weekend went to Mason Schools.
The principal, Mike Prelesnik of North Aurelius Elementary School, sent out a letter to the parents to alert them to the situation.
He shared that fourth grader, Brenden Scott, was in an accident and was in the hospital. He added that a crisis team was on site at North Aurelius to support any students or staff that needed it.
Scott, who is 9 years old, is in critical condition after being hit by a car in Vevay Township on Sunday.
It happened around 4 p.m. on the 2400 block of Hawley Road, according to the Ingham County Sheriff's Office.
He was trying to cross the road when he was struck by a southbound vehicle.
The driver in the accident, a 53-year-old man from the Mason area, was not injured.
Police are investigating. They do not believe alcohol was a factor.
Eden Church of Mason is collecting donations for Brenden's family. The Scott's belong to the Eden Church.
