CNN, (WILX) - The Bahamas, still struggling in the aftermath of Hurricane Dorian, could be in store for another major storm.

The National Hurricane Center has upgraded a weather disturbance near the islands to Tropical Depression 9.

The Hurricane Center says the depression is expected to become a tropical storm within the next 24 hours and will bring tropical storm-force winds and heavy rainfall .

United States Agency for International Development personnel distributed supplies in Abaco on Friday ahead of the storm.

"The last few days, they have been getting as many shelter supplies in place and water, extra water, getting people ready in case there are any negative effects from this storm. If there are, they and our partners and the government are ready to stand by and respond as soon as possible," said Rob Jenkins with USAID.
