BWL to close Townsend Street between Malcolm X and William Street for steam main construction

By  |

Drivers be advised - the Lansing Board of Water and Light will close Townsend St. between Malcolm X and William St. beginning this weekend.
Construction will begin on September 15 for a new high pressure steam main.
Traffic on Townsend St. will be detoured.
Access to Townsend along William St. will remain open until September 22, after that you'll be able to access parking from Elm Street.
Malcolm X will remain open during construction but sidewalks in the work zone will be closed, and anyone on foot will be detoured around the work zone.

Be aware that closures on Townsend Street may increase traffic congestion on Elm Street, especially during peak travel times.
These lane reductions and closures are expected to remain in effect through March 2018.
