6:15 p.m.

A home that sits just off Town Road, surrounded by fields became a crime scene Wednesday.

"I think it's pretty crazy for here in Springport," said neighbor Walter Dittis.

He was driving through his hometown to find the State Police Crime Lab blocking his path.

"Talked to a gentleman out here and he filled me in on what happened and said one was dead and then I was told there were two dead instead of one," Dittis said.

Matthew Lyle McMillen and Hunter Scott Lentz , two 18-year-old white males from Jackson County were found dead around 6:50 this morning.

Police arrived to find their bodies in the yard of the home on the 13000 block of Town Road.

"It appears at this time that there was some sort of a theft going on, there was a confrontation between the subjects and it turned deadly," said Springport Township Police Chief David Luce.

The man who lives in the home shot the teens.

He and a third suspect have been questioned. Police say no arrests have been made and no word yet if the shooter will be charged.

"We're just right now trying to piece together what the actual events were and then once we get that put together then the Prosecutor's Office can review that and make a determination on that," Chief Luce said.

A neighbor told News Ten this isn't the first potential break-in in the area and police confirmed there have been quite a few in the last few months.

"We're not sure if there's any correlation between the other ones or not," Chief Luce said. "It's something that will certainly be looked at throughout the course of the investigation. But at this point, there's no way to relate that at all."

Still, a shocking day for the community.

"Springport's usually a quiet place, peaceful town. Everybody gets along with everybody. Neighbors look out for neighbors and I just think it's crazy," Dittis added.

We'll keep tracking this investigation and we'll have an update as soon as we know more.

5:09 p.m.

Police are investigating a shooting on Town Road in Springport Township.

Chief of Police David Luce says officers were called to the 13000 block of Town road shortly before 7am for a shooting.

Officers responded and found two 18-year-olds dead in a yard near a home. Chief Luce says it appears there was a confrontation after a theft and someone at the home shot the teens. The chief says there is no threat to the public.

"It was a confrontation between the subjects that escalated into deadly force", said Luce. "There is no other threat, we're very confident with that, it was an isolated incident."

Two people have been questioned but no arrests have been made at this time. The names of the victims won't be released until next of kin has been notified.

Area schools heard of a police investigation and put buildings on lockdown as a precautionary measure. The lockdowns were lifted a short time after when police told the schools there was no threat.
