Auto supplier closing in Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, Mich. (WILX) -- Less than two weeks before Christmas, workers at an auto supply factory in Charlotte have been told they're losing their jobs.

Employees at CNI Plastics say they found out last Friday that the plant will be shutting down.

The factory does injection molding. It was sold to a company called Adient as part of a much larger deal.

Adient doesn't do injection molding, so it's closing the plant on Parkland Drive.

All the contracts and the equipment inside the building will be sold to another company on the west side of the state.

Employees have been told their last day will be in February.

They say they've been told that everyone will be laid off.

News 10 stopped by the plant Monday afternoon but no one would talk on camera.

Adient will not tell us how many people work in the plant.

We've reached out to the company that's buying the contracts and equipment to see if it has any plans for the Charlotte facility.

We'll let you know if we get a response.
