A special education teacher in Ann Arbor who reached a plea deal in connection with alleged student abuse, is now serving probation.

The teacher pleaded no contest to assault and battery in September.

An original charge of fourth-degree child abuse was also dropped, she is forbidden from teaching in person for the next two years.

The charges steam from 2016 when prosecutors say she reportedly struck a student in the head.
