Allen Township accident leaves a woman seriously injured

ALLEN TOWNSHIP, MI (WILX) - Michigan State Police and local authorities are investigating a traffic accident that occurred Wednesday night at approximately 10:45 p.m.

The sight of the incident was on U.S. 12 just east of Glasgow Road in Allen Township.

Michigan State Police report that a passenger vehicle was traveling eastbound on U.S. 12 when it left the roadway and struck a tree.

The driver, a 24-year-old woman from Jonesville, was pinned inside the vehicle and suffered serious injuries.

The driver had to be extricated from the vehicle and airlifted to Henry Ford Allegiance Hospital in Jackson County.

At this time, state police can only report that the driver remains hospitalized.

A dog and cat that were also traveling in the vehicle were killed in the crash.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in this incident.

Michigan State Troopers were assisted, at the scene, by the Allen Township Fire Department and Reading EMS.
