Michigan State Police released the name Saturday.

A state trooper is also recovering after his vehicles was involved in the crash.

News 10 was on the scene near the intersection of Old US 27 and Cutler Road where the accident occurred just after 8 p.m.

Michigan State Police tell News 10 that a trooper was pulling out onto Old US-27 from Round Lake when he clipped a semi, then went out of control, crashing head-on into a third vehicle.

Bystanders told News 10 that the third vehicle had a tarp draped over it and that a person was pulled out by the jaws of life.

Police have confirmed that that person died.

Police also say the Trooper was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

News 10 also talked to someone on the scene.

"We were headed up to Mickey's bar around 8:30p.m. and we came by and saw that there was a car in the ditch and there was a state trooper car in the middle of the road. When we came by they were giving chest compressions to the guy, it looked like a guy that we could see from the side of the road in the ditch, chest compressions in the ditch, chest compressions on the stretcher, it looks like was a rough accident, but we're not exactly sure what happened," Austin Rusnell, a bystander said.
