UPDATE: At least 3 dead, 11 injured, in 30 vehicle crash on westbound I-96 near Fowlerville

The Michigan State Police confirm that at least three people were pronounced dead on scene, and 11 injured, following a crash involving nearly 40 vehicles on I-96 westbound near Fowlerville.

The 11 individuals injured suffered non-life threatening injuries, and were taken to the hospital. Police are not releasing the identities of the victims at this time.

There were white out conditions at the time of the accident, and alcohol is not believed to be a factor.

The Eastbound lanes were shut down to divert traffic and get emergency vehicles to the scene, the lanes have since been re-opened.


A crash involving more than 30 vehicles on westbound I-96 near Fowlerville has shut down the highway.

Multiple injuries have been reported. Livingston County Central dispatch reports that the crash happened about 9:45 a.m. and has closed the highway in both directions.
