Excess belly fat is bad for your heart

A new study suggests having excess belly fat is bad for your health.
European researchers studied data from nearly 3-thousand people.
Nearly two-thirds had excess belly fat and were more likely to have heart disease and stroke.
Many of the participants who were not taking any medication had higher blood pressure and bad cholesterol.
Having more fat around your waist is bad for the heart, even if you are not overweight or obese.
Researchers say physicians should begin to advise their patients if they see factors for heart disease.
The study also found less than half of those on high blood pressure medication were below 140 over 90, the maximum of what is considered normal blood pressure.
According to the CDC, approximately 610-thousand people die of heart disease in the U.S. every year.
