Seth Wells joins WILX as an avid sports fan, well-rounded journalist, proud alum of Butler University and Michigander.
Seth joined the WILX sports department in June of 2018 after spending a year at WLUC-TV in Marquette, Michigan. He spent a majority of his time in the upper peninsula covering high school sports as well as Michigan Tech and Northern Michigan University athletics.
He covered a Lions/Packers Monday night football match up at Lambeau Field in Green Bay and also covered a WCHA Championship Game between rivals Michigan Tech and Northern Michigan in the spring of 2018.
While he misses the Upper Peninsula and the great hiking and fishing it offered, he is happy to be back in the lower peninsula and closer to where he grew up near Grand Rapids.
Originally from Rockford, Michigan, Seth graduated from Butler University in the spring of 2017 with a Bachelor of Sports Media degree and a minor in Spanish. During his college years he interned with WOOD-TV in Grand Rapids, WTHR in Indianapolis and worked as a game-operations intern with the Indiana Pacers. He also blogged for NCAA.com during the NCAA Division One Swimming & Diving Championships in 2017. He was also a play-by-play broadcaster for numerous Butler sporting events for ButlerSports.com. He was involved on campus in the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity as well as serving as the President of the Butler Club Basketball team for two years. He spent three years in total on the team as a player.
Outside of work, Seth likes to golf, fish, hike and try different craft beers from around the mitten state.
