Alani joined News 10 as a reporter in July, 2017.

Alani joined News 10 as a reporter in July, 2017. She is thrilled to be starting her career in the capitol of her home state. She is very ambitious, her mind always set to complete personal goals. Alani has a caring nature, often placing others’ needs well above her own.

She graduated from the University of Detroit Mercy cum laude with a degree in Communications studies, minoring in Leadership in May of 2015. While at Detroit Mercy, she interned at her school’s public relations office, Greater Media Detroit, and Detroit’s FOX 2 News in investigative reporting. She was also a scholarship athlete competing in track where she took home many trophies in individual and relay races. She also graduated with a Master of Arts in Journalism from Wayne State University in May, 2016.

No stranger to hard work, Alani juggled three jobs before coming to News 10. She worked for Katherine’s Catering of Ann Arbor for the last five years, worked in Detroit Public Schools the last two years as a math tutor for grades K-8, and for the Shelter Association of Washtenaw County at the Delonis Center in Ann Arbor, a shelter for adults experiencing homelessness. During her time there, she received a Special Recognition Award for her efforts in responding to overdose victims in the winter of 2016.

When she’s not working, you can catch Alani in the gym or on the ice rink.
