Woman found dead after shooting in the area of Averill Drive in Lansing

LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - Police said a woman was found dead after a shooting in the area of Averill Drive Saturday night.

The Lansing Police and Fire Departments responded to a reported shooting at around 6 p.m. Saturday night. Police said when they arrived, they found a 35-year-old woman dead with a gunshot wound.

Officials said no one is in custody as of Saturday night.

Lansing police told News 10 at the scene this was not a random event and there is no ongoing threat to the public.

Lansing and Lansing Township officials lined the street of the 2800 block of Averill Drive in Lansing. The area is between Brisbane and Sandhurst Drive.

Officials said if anyone has information regarding the shooting, they can contact the Lansing Police Department.

Meanwhile, an investigation is ongoing.
