Owner Jeremy Helton tells News 10 that HBO had reached out to him years ago and had to keep the news a secret - until now. He said the moment all set in while he was working at home Sunday night.
“I was at my computer doing some work, and then I had some orders come in online for the actual t-shirt,” said Helton. “I was like ‘well let me check on this real quick,’ cause that’s kind of strange. I looked it up and I was like ‘oh man the series dropped today,’ so I dialed up HBO Max and started watching it. About 47 minutes into the show, I see the character who plays Magic Johnson wearing the t-shirt.”
Helton also says it was the best promo a person could get and since the episode was released he has seen an increase in sales.
The series, which also stars John C. Reilly, Jason Clarke, Jason Segel, and Adrien Brody, has a new episode released each Sunday on HBO Max.
