LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - There’s a new Director of Special Education Accountability at Ingham County schools.

Monday, the Ingham County Intermediate School District (Ingham ISD) announced they have promoted Michelle Rosa-Derdowski to the Director of Special Education Program Accountability. The position is responsible for planning and implementing activities and requirements for special education compliance, results and technical assistance with Ingham ISD.

“We are excited to have someone of Michelle’s caliber in this new role as Program Accountability Director,” said Crystal Cutler, Executive Director of Student Support Services for Ingham ISD. “She brings a wealth of experience to this position that will serve her well and her leadership will ensure that Ingham ISD, as well as our local districts, remain in compliance with federal and state regulations related to students with disabilities.”

Rosa-Derdowski joined the school system in 1998 as a teacher for students with emotional impairments. She has since held numerous roles within the school system involving special education. She has a B.S. and M.A. degree in special education from Western Michigan University. She has also earned a Supervisor of Special Education Approval from Saginaw Valley State University, an Educational Specialist degree in K-12 Administration from Michigan State University and an Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) Endorsement from Grand Valley State University.
