BLACKMAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WILX) - Hackers are hitting just about everything these days, from large corporations to people’s Facebook accounts. One Jackson County woman is desperately trying to get back into hers, and its not just because she wants to see what her friends are posting.

Lisa is trying to get messages her mother before she died in February 2020.

“She sent me a couple messages before she passed,” said Whitehead. “It’s upsetting that I can’t get in. I don’t understand what happened or why. She wrote messages telling us she loved us and I can’t get those. It sucks.”

Whitehead said she got an email from Facebook May 25 saying her account was hacked and she was locked out.

“To protect you, your profile is not visible to people on Facebook and you can not use your account,” said Whitehead.

Whitehead said she’s frustrated trying to get back into her account since.

“I reset my password. I actually reset it before you got here,” she said.

One problem is the code to reset her password is going to an email she doesn’t have access to anymore. Which doesn’t make sense to Whitehead because she changed her email address with Facebook and she’s getting notification emails.

She’s tried getting in touch with Facebook, even email Mark Zuckerberg, but hasn’t had much luck.

“It’s very frustrating. If you’re going to run something, you should have people that can reach out to people to help,” said Whitehead.

She’s not the only one having issues with Facebook.

Blackman Township’s Public Safety Department also had issues. It recently created a new page after having difficulties posting. The department told News 10 Facebook wasn’t helpful for them either.

News 10 did reach out to Facebook to figure out what is going on with those accounts, but no one responded to our requests.
