OKEMOS, Mich. (WILX) - UPDATE: The crash resulted in the death of the driver who has been identified as 19-year-old Daniel James Bath of Haslett.

The Meridian Township Police Department released a statement at approximately 2 p.m. Saturday. They were dispatched to the area of Jolly Road near Ambassador Drive for a single-vehicle crash. The crash resulted in the death of the driver. The driver’s name is currently being withheld until the family is notified.

The vehicle was heading eastbound on Jolly Road when the occupant lost control and left the roadway striking a tree. The Ingham County Regional Crash Investigation Team assisted with the investigation. The driver was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

They said the investigation is ongoing. Anyone who has information regarding the incident can contact the Meridian Township Police Department at 517.853.4800, or submit an anonymous tip through the Department’s social media sites.

It happened around 1:30 a.m. near Jolly Road and Ambassador Drive in Okemos. It has been confirmed by the Meridian Township Police that the driver was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. The identity of the driver is still unknown.

The Ingham County Regional Crash Investigation Team is assisting the Meridian Township Police Department in this investigation.

Meridian Township Police, Lansing Police, and Michigan State Police were all on the scene of the crash gathering information.
