LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - The Ingham County Health Department is preparing for the start of Phase 1-B’s COVID-19 vaccinations.

Starting Monday, anyone in Phase 1-B, which includes first responders, educators, and people over the age of 70, will be able to get a COVID-19 vaccine.

Ingham County Health Officer Linda Vail says, there are 83,000 people in Phase 1-B that need to get vaccinated.

“It’s obviously, you know, an incredible thing to do,” Vail said. “I mean there are a lot of people that are just, they’ve been waiting for a long time and they are so relieved. But at the same time, it’s frustrating because we don’t have enough vaccine for everybody at one time.”

The health department receives shipments of the vaccine each week. Vail says hopefully by springtime, the general public will be able to be vaccinated.
