LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - The Ingham County Health Department has executed a “soft launch” of its COVID-19 vaccination plan for essential healthcare workers and people working in critical industries.

Health department officials have begun notifying people who fall under those categories and will provide more details about vaccinations for people who have yet to be notified at a later date.

County Health Officer Linda Vail said Tuesday officials have been vaccinating about 350 people a day and are working with employers to make sure people who work in professions deemed essential can eventually get vaccinated.

People who want to get vaccinated should follow the health department’s website, hd.ingham.org, for the latest information.

The county’s next phase of vaccine distribution is expected to include people at high risk for COVID-19, including anyone age 65 or older.

The state’s dashboard posted on the website indicated, as of 11:45 pm Wednesday, that the Ingham County Health Department has distributed 20,475 doses of the vaccine manufactured by Pfizer and 400 doses of the Moderna vaccine.
