LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - MSU Federal Credit Union’s East Lansing Project at the corner of Abbot Rd. and Albert Ave. will be put on hold until April 6th.

According to President and CEO of MSUFCU April Clobes, the institution received a letter from an attorney from a neighboring lot with concerns regarding the construction methods.

The construction plans consist of moving materials in the air space above the neighbor to the north’s property with a crane. Construction workers will also need access to that same neighbor’s property to build a retaining wall.

“We’ve been working through the process since we received the notification from the property owner to the north,” said Clobes. “Right now we have not had an opportunity to come to a successful resolution. We’re hoping to do so within the next three months.”

According to East Lansing’s Director of Planning, Building and Development Tom Fehrenbach, the City Council is expected to vote in favor of the extension at Tuesday’s City Council Meeting.

“Certainly the staff is recommending approval as it’s simply a matter of allowing additional time for them to work out these details,” said Fehrenbach.
