(WILX) - A stowaway owl named Rocky, is set to spread her wings and soar as she returns to nature after an unintended trip to The Big Apple.
Rocky was discovered inside the Christmas tree after its arrival at Rockefeller Center in New York. The female stands seven inches tall and is a northern saw-whet, one of North America’s smallest owl species.
Rocky spent some time at Ravensbeard Wildlife Center in Saugerties, NY but is now ready to return to the skies. She was released at sunset Tuesday, so she could find safe cover by nightfall.
