It hasn't been that cold this winter, but that doesn't mean the typical winter ailments aren't going around.
Dr. Roger Annis at Holt Family Practice, a partner of McLaren Greater Lansing, is treating seasonal dry skin this week.
The symptoms are: itchy skin, redness, cracking and irritation.
There are some things you can do at home to help.
Drink eight to 10 glasses of water a day to keep your skin hydrated. Cut back on caffeine and alcohol, which are dehydrating.
Keep humidity in your home at 40 to 50 percent and use a humidifier.
Take shorter showers, use moisturizing soaps and use chap stick if your lips are irritated.
Dr. Annis says if your skin hasn't cleared up after trying this at-home remedies, you should see a doctor.
