ST. CHARLES, Mich. (AP) -- The National Weather Service has confirmed that a tornado damaged homes, downed trees and knocked out power in Saginaw County.

Meteorologist Matt Mosteiko tells The Saginaw News that an EF-1 tornado struck about 7 p.m. Wednesday in the St. Charles area.

No injuries were reported.

Residents in the area reported multiple downed trees, damaged houses and a garage blown off its foundation. The severe weather also left more than 900 Consumers Energy customers without power.

Mosteiko says an EF-1 classification has estimated winds of 86 to 110 mph with moderate damage.
