Shooting Leads To Car Chase In Jackson County

A shooting leaves one man dead and another in police custody.

Jackson County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to Wamplers Heights Drive in Norvell Township just before 5 p.m., Saturday, on reports of a shooting.

Upon arrival, they found a man dead after he had been shot in the face.

The 33-year-old male suspect from Dearborn stole the victim's vehicle from the location of the shooting and was pursued by Columbia Township Police who had been called in to assist. Police chased the suspect until he crashed into a wooded area near Case and Horning Roads.

Police then began chasing the suspect on foot. Sheriff's Deputies located the suspect after a truck was reported stolen in the area. Spike strips were deployed and police were able to take the suspect into custody. He is currently being held at the Jackson County Jail.

Sheriff Detectives investigated the incident throughout the night, but the Jackson County Sheriff's office informed us the scene has since been cleared.

Police have not yet released the names of the victim or shooter.
