Although the sun came out later in the day, the puddles revealed that rain had just passed through the Chisholm Hills Golf Course. Golfer Charley Rosebush said, "Every now and then a sand bunker fills up but, in a day or 2 days, it's gone...besides, who wants to hit in a sand bunker?"

Although members like Charley came out with the sun, Owner Steve Ramey says colder temperatures have posed challenges this year. He says business was down about 50-percent in April. He says it's shaped up to be a strange season. He says, "The most unusual thing has been the weather, starting out so great in March and things collapsing for about a month and a half because of the weather, both rain and cold."

At the Tasty Twist in East Lansing, rain has frozen out some summer traffic with a 30 to 40% drop on rainy days. Manager Brian Isanhart says, "If it's like an all day rain, it cuts it in half." However, at that business, regular customers pick up the slack. He says,"With the weather being bad, we still are doing pretty good business."

Showers and colder temperatures have certainly put a damper on the East Lansing Aquatic Center. East Lansing Recreation Coordinator Jim Jennings says, "July's been actually the coldest I can remember. So, things have been kind of slow." He says, "I would say we're probably down about 25% for attendance for July. However, everyone can still swim at the Hannah Community Center indoor pool despite the weather.

However, the East Lansing Aquatic Center and other summer businesses still hope they at least run closer to normal for August and late summer.
