Sally Long is one of the many welcoming in the holiday weekend with a trip to the store to stock up.

"I'm buying the types of things that maybe I wouldn't buy ordinarily," Long explains.

And with all of that food comes a large grocery bill.

"I'm spending $100 or something like that," Shopper, Sandy Metzger explains.

But all of that money is stimulating the economy, the same economy that is keeping a lot of people in town for Memorial Day.

"We're going to see about a .6% increase," Ryan Johnson of AAA explains.

But what's not as exciting for vacation plans is great for local business.

"So we're stimulating the economy , but we're saving money by camping," Long tells us.

In fact, a lot of business owners anticipate on this being one the best years in recent memory for their shops. Joe Ross of the College Bike Shop in Lansing credits that to the weather.

"As soon as the weather pops and it's nice like this, it really is a thaw and our sales are blooming," Ross says.

Restaurants like Reno's East say the minute they saw this weekend's forecast, they ordered extra of everything they could get their hands on.

"We loaded up on beer and food for the weekend and bulked up our staff," Jessie Stipcak of Reno's East, says.

One thing is for sure, this is the first time business owners have been this enthused in quite some time.
