WILX Daily Forecast

BREAKING WEATHER ALERT: There is an Enhanced Risk for severe weather Sunday. This is a high confidence forecast. We will very likely experience severe thunderstorms with a cold front.

UPDATE 3:45 p.m... A weak thundershower is moving north of Lansing. Otherwise, conditions are still calm.

The main window for severe weather is about 4 p.m. to 1 a.m., and more specifically, between 9 p.m. and midnight with the cold front. The biggest threat is damaging winds, but a few tornadoes and some hail can't be ruled out.

It appears that much of the afternoon will be rain-free and partly to mostly sunny. Highs reach the upper 80s, it will be humid, and very windy. An isolated thunderstorm is still possible in the afternoon, so if you have outdoor plans, keep an eye on the radar.

This evening is when things get more intense. After 4 p.m. or so, scattered pop up thunderstorms are possible, but not certain, ahead of a cold front. The front itself is the main concern. It will create a line of strong to severe thunderstorms after about 9 p.m. from the northwest and move southeast. The line will produce very strong winds, heavy rain, and dangerous lightning. A few tornadoes and some hail can't be ruled out.

With such strong winds, downed power lines are possible. Be prepared!

It should clear up as soon as the front passes.

The severe potential is always subject to change. Stay tuned for updates!
