Hit drama “Crossing Jordan” heads into its fifth season by exploring disturbing topical crimes and offenses with a cadre of coroners eager to offer their forensic skills to the police in order to bring murderers to justice and closure to the families of victims.

Jill Hennessy (NBC’s “Law &Order”) stars as Dr. Jordan Cavanaugh, a sexy, smart and fearless Boston medical examiner with a checkered career past who works under the guidance of Dr. Garret Macy (Miguel Ferrer, “Traffic”.) Her unorthodox methods constantly test her professional and personal relationship with Detective Woodrow “Woody” Hoyt (Jerry O’Connell, “Sliders,” “Jerry Maguire”), who the coroners rely on to put in the legwork to hunt down the life-size perpetrators of the crimes they investigate.

Additional support for the cop and the coroner team is provided by grief counselor Lily Lebowski (Kathryn Hahn, “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days,” “Win a Date with Tad Hamilton!”), forensic entomologist “Bug” (Ravi Kapoor, “Gideon’s Crossing”) and criminalist Nigel (Steve Valentine, “The Muse.”) Working alongside Cavanaugh is Dr. Devan Maguire (two-time Daytime Emmy Award winner Jennifer Finnigan in a recurring role), and the “new guy,” Dr. Sidney Trumaine (Eugene Byrd, “Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid,” in a recurring role.)

Detective Tallulah Simmons (Leslie Bibb, “Popular”) and tabloid reporter J.D. Pollack (Charles Mesure, “Lost”) provide new love interests for Woody and Jordan this season.

“Crossing Jordan” is from Tailwind Productions in association with NBC Universal Television Studio. Tim Kring (NBC’s “Providence”) is creator and executive producer; Dennis Hammer and Allan Arkush are executive producers.
