Whether you're enrolling at home or with the help of a navigator, you've probably had some issue while using

"Last week, there were issues with actually going on the site and being able to go all the way through," said Debbie Edokpolo, of the Ingham County Health Department. "This week, I believe people are able to at least register."

The Ingham County Health Department has tried to help people navigate the insurance marketplace, only to have them sign up by phone because of website issues.

Dave Waymire, of the Michigan Association of Health Plans says that's just one way to enroll.

"They can contact the insurance companies directly. They can work through local insurance agents," he said.

But the closer we get to the January 1 sign-up deadline, the more people will try to get on the website. Waymire says if issues aren't resolved, that could make it tough to get all the information processed in time.

"Information not only needs to get into the exchange system, but it needs to get out of the exchange system to the companies in a timely and accurate fashion and we haven't been able to see if that's going to happen at large volumes," he said.

Still, Waymire and the Ingham County Health Department say problems are bound to happen anytime this much information is being handled and that's why the public needs to be patient.

In the meantime, the health department intends to continue helping with sign-up.

"I think in the end, the benefit they will receive far outweights the frustration we're seeing right now," said Edokpolo.
