EAST LANSING (WILX)-- New restaurants seem to be popping up all over downtown East Lansing lately.
Friday wasn't just the first game day for MSU football, it was the kick-off for two new E.L. restaurants as well.
Peppinos Pizzeria and Firehouse Subs opened their doors to the public on one of the most busiest days for downtown E.L.
"There's a lot of pressure on us with eighty thousand people coming to watch the spartans win," said John Kupiee, Firehouse Subs Area Rep.
Opening on game-day takes some gut, but at Firehouse Subs, the company says they have it under control.
"We're up to the task. We've been training the last couple days, and were excited to deal with the public."
Firehouse Subs is known for it hearty helpings on their subs, and for donating part of their sales to fire departments in need. They also have more than fifty types of hot sauces to choose from.
All three of the newest restaurants; Peppino's Pizzeria, Firehouse Subs, and HopCat are located on the same block of Albert St. HopCat opened last week, and Manager Garry Boyds says he knows how stressful opening day can be. That's why he's offered the new neighbors help.
"I've offered my hand in friendship, and I've got a big support staff. I told them I'd come and bus tables if that's what they need," said Boyd.
Boyd thinks it was just a coincidence and good location that all three happened to open around the same time.
