CTS Award Keeps the Focus on Lansing

"To be recognized globally with an award like the Motor Trend Car of the Year for the CTS that really supports our belief in how good we are," said Francavilla.

"It was really an incredible feeling. Everybody was going around giving each other high-fives at the plant."

First, the Cadillac ATS wins Car of the Year at the Detroit International Auto Show. Now, the Cadillac CTS gets the same award from Motor Trend. You could say Tony Francavilla is one happy manager, considering his plant builds both.

"This is really important for the plant, it's important for the Lansing region," said Francavilla. "It's important for all the workers here. When you look at the fact that we're building two highly successful vehicles in this plant, it really speaks volumes."

It also puts the spotlight on Lansing. Mayor Virg Bernero says winning the Motor Trend Car of the Year is a testament to the workers in Mid-Michigan. He's hoping the award will ultimately lead to more workers here.

"The best vehicle in the world is made here in Lansing and of course that means they better be gearing up another shift because these cars are going to be even more popular," said Bernero.

Capitol Cadillac has only had the new CTS on its lots for a few weeks and they've already sold a few. General Manager Bob Pollock says the timing couldn't be more perfect...

"Cadillac's first national ad for the car will come out on Thanksgiving Day," he said.

...And he's sure that'll translate into sales.

"Once they drive this car, it'll be tough to find a vehicle that'll outperform it," said Pollock

It's all thanks to the workers at the Lansing Grand River Plant

"To be recognized globally with an award like the Motor Trend Car of the Year for the CTS that really supports our belief in how good we are," said Francavilla.

The Car of the Year award will be presented to the plant, Friday morning.
