Jackson Symphony Orchestra Concert "Sounds of War”

Jackson College’s Potter Center, 2111 Emmons Rd., Jackson, MI 49201
Marking the 100th anniversary of the “War to end all Wars” we hear the music of Ravel, his piano concert for left hand, and a world premier of our own composer in residence, Dr. Bruce Brown’s Love, Death and War in the White House: A Portrait of Woodrow Wilson in Music and Drama. William Westney returns to Jackson for his 4th visit to perform Ravel’s Concerto for Left Hand. Why just one hand? The emotionally charged masterpiece was composed for Paul Wittgenstein, a famous pianist of the time who lost his right hand in the war.

Sponsored by Spring Arbor University

Individual ticket by section: $32, 27, $18

The concert is preceded by the Backstage Glimpse, a free educational and entertaining presentation with Dr. Bruce Brown, 6:30 p.m. in the Cafeteria at Jackson College.
