Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center, East Lansing
For the past 15 years the MSU College of Osteopathic Medicine has brought a number of dynamic and inspiring speakers to East Lansing as part of the William G. Anderson Lecture Series Slavery to Freedom: An American Odyssey.

For the 16th annual event in 2016, the college is extremely pleased to host these notable individuals: Edwin Black, Cornel West and Ernest Green.

• The free series will kick off on Feb. 11 at 5 p.m. as Black takes the stage at the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center’s Big Ten Room. As an award-winning, New York Times bestselling author, his work explores issues related to such topics as human rights, genocide and hate, corporate corruption and historical investigation.
• At 5 p.m. Feb. 18, thought-provoking speaker, social commentator and academic Cornel West will share his story in the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center’s Big Ten Room. Although he has written more than 20 books, he’s best known for his classics Race Matters and Democracy Matters. Professor West’s work examines the crossroads of race, gender and class in American society.
• The series will conclude at 5 p.m. Feb. 25 with Ernest Green in the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center’s Auditorium. As one of the Little Rock Nine, he and eight classmates were the first to integrate Little Rock Arkansas’s Central High School in 1954, for which they later received the Congressional Gold Medal from President Clinton. He went on to earn his bachelor’s and master’s degrees at MSU and has held a career in both the public and private sectors, working to address inequities in labor and education.

There is no registration required.
