Dustin Bonk - Meteorologist
Dustin joined the News 10 weather team in November of 2013 as the weekend meteorologist. Previously, he spent two years as a weekday reporter and weekend meteorologist at WLUC in Marquette where he covered the Seney National Wildlife Refuge and Duck Lake Wildfires in 2012 and dozens of winter storms. As a native to the small Chicago suburb of Summit, he is happy to work closer to home. He says he misses Lake Superior and the beautiful scenery of the Upper Peninsula, but he is happy to continue his career in Pure Michigan.
Dustin graduated from Valparaiso University in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science degree in meteorology with a double minor in math and television/radio communications. As a student, he interned in Chicago at WGN with Tom Skilling and WMAQ with Ginger Zee, a fellow Valpo graduate and current meteorologist for Good Morning America. Immediately after graduation, he participated in a 10-day convective field study that had him storm chasing all across the Central Plains with his classmates in what he says was an amazing and unique experience. At Valpo, Dustin also spent much of his time as a member of Sigma Pi Fraternity and playing the trumpet in the Crusader Pep Band.
Outside of work, Dustin enjoys movies, reading fantasy novels, trying new craft beers around The Great Beer State, and taking weather photos. He loves to share his and viewers' weather photos on Facebook at WILX Dustin Bonk and Twitter @dustinWILX. You can also email him at firstname.lastname@example.org.
