On Friday the Holt Ram football team cut off their thumb. They are using 5 fingers as their motivation to make it to Ford Field and the state finals. Holt avenged last years playoff loss to Rockford by beating the Rams 35-28 in the Division 1 regional semifinal.

Holt took a 20-7 halftime lead when quarterback Michael Hollern found Dominic Todd in the end zone.

Rockford came out of the locker room and took control of the game in the third quarter scoring 3 times to take a 28-20 lead. The 4th quarter however was all Holt. Hollern then lead his team down the field and capped the scoring drive with a 16 yard strike to Tom Brandenberg. Hollern then connected with Brandenberg for the 2-point conversion to tie the game. After the Holt defense stopped Rockford, Hollern went back to work and called his own number with just over 2 minutes left to give Holt the lead for good.

Holt will now host Detroit Catholic Central next weekend, the game time will be determined on Monday.
