It's official. The University of Michigan regents Wednesday approved a $3 million lease to the National Hockey League to play the Detroit Red Wings vs. Toronto Maple Leafs game in Michigan Stadium next New Year's Day. In the previous week, Comerica Park in Detroit will host the GLI hockey tournament including Michigan and Michigan State. Other minor league and high school games will be played at Comerica during the same period. The NHL will be allowed to sell alcohol at the NHL game which Michigan prohibits for college events.
