Francie Daugherty, the wife of former Michigan State football coach Duffy, died Tuesday. She was 90. Mrs. Daugherty had been living in Michigan in suburban Detroit near her daughter Dree. Her husband Duffy died in August, 1987. Duffy Daugherty was MSU head coach from 1954-72. She will be buried in Santa Barbara, California. In lieu of flowers friends are asked to make contributions to the John Shinsky Orphanage project in Metamorros, Mexico. Mrs. Daugherty had regularly attended the annual April banquets in East Lansing in which a Duffy Daugherty Award is presented to someone for lifetime service in football.
