Justin Verlander of the Detroit Tigers is now baseball's highest paid pitcher. Verlander agreed to a 7-year deal Friday for $180 million, of which at least $140 million is guaranteed. Verlander now makes more than Felix Hernandez of the Seattle Mariners. Verlander is due to start the Tigers' regular season opener Monday at Minnesota against the Twins in very cold weather that is expected.
