USA Advances in World Cup Soccer

In Kansas City Tuesday night, the United States rallied to beat Guatemala 3-1 to reach next year's final round of World Cup soccer qualifying. Clint Dempsey had a pair of goals and assisted on Carlos Bocanegra's equalizer. The Americans needed merely a draw to advance to the six team finals in North and Central America and the Caribbean. The U. S. has a 4-1-1 record and is seeking its seventh straight World Cupn appearance and topped its semi-final group with 13 points.
