Tigers Win Home Finale

The Detroit Tigers won their 50th home game of the season Thursday, 5-4 over the Kansas City Royals completing a four game sweept. The win pushed the Tigers to 84-72 for the season, a game and a half up on the White Sox who were to host the Tampa Bay Rays in the first of four games beginning Thursday night. Alex Avila's ground out brought in the winning run with the bases loaded in the 9th inning breaking a 4-4 tie.
Doug Fister set an American League record with nine consecutive strikeouts. The Tigers won 50 home games for the fourth consecutive year. They finish with three games in Minnesota and three in Kansas City.
