Justin Verlander pitched six strong innings leading the Detroit Tigers to an 11-1 win over the Washington Nationals Wednesday afternoon at Comerica Park. The Tigers scored five runs in each of the second and fourth innings to blow the game open. Torii Hunter hit his 11th home run and Alex Avila his 8th for the Tigers who improve to 61-45 on the season. The Tigers have Thursday off before hosting the Chicago White Sox for three games beginning Friday night.
