Tigers Sign Valverde

The Detroit Tigers were rained out of their Tuesday game at Comerica Park against the Kansas City Royals. No make up date has been announced. Game two in the series is set for 7:05pm Wednesday.
The Tigers have signed their former relief pitcher Jose Valverde to a one year contract and he will report to the team on Wednesday. Tigers' manager Jim Leyland says Valverde will be used immediately in the closer's role. The Tigers also placed reliever Octavio Dotel on the 15-day disabled list with a sore elbow and called up reliever Bruce Rondon from Toledo.
